Who is to say that it wont just blow up in 20K miles? The fact is, no one knows. You have no idea of that car's history and instead you have a fresh rebuild that could go another 100K. Yes, the cars are losing their value but for a 15 year old Nissan they are holding it better than I'd have thought. Mint TTs for $10K are a rarity so don't let a few that you see fool you. You also have to realize that 3 out of every 4 TTs sold anywhere in the United States are probably not running right. There are so many complex systems in this car given the starting year it was sold. For a 1990 it was loaded with everything and TWO of many things. As such, I value a car that has had the work done myself and/or by a shop I trust much, MUCH more than a "good deal" I see online. I overpaid for my TT but I knew the work done to it was top notch and it was worth every penny. Even so, that's not to say that these cars are good investments. If I wanted a good investment I'd buy a nice Porsche of some sort. Instead I have an affliction...it's known as Z fever. I can't live without driving one even if it drives me into the poorhouse :)
